Psalms for Sunday

Chapter 1
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scorners.
For his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law he meditates day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season, and his leaf shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
The wicked are not like that, for if a wind blows them away,
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
: Why do the nations rage and the peoples fume in vain?
Chapter 2
The kings of the earth will stand up and the rulers will be established together against the Lord and against his Messiah.
We have severed its traditions and cast away its burdens.
He who sits in heaven will laugh at the Lord, he will mock at him.
Then he will speak to him with his mouth, and in his anger he will terrify him.
And I will set my king upon Zion, my holy mountain.
I will tell you the law of the Lord. He said to me, "You are my son; today I have begotten you."
Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, and your possession from the ends of the earth.
You will strike them with an iron rod, like a tool made of iron, and they will be shattered.
And now wise kings have been removed from the judges of the land.
Serve the Lord with fear and seek Him with trembling. Kiss the mountain of Pen-jean and be lost in the way, for it will burn like a little fire, which is blessed to all who trust in it.
: A psalm for David when he fled from his son Absalom.
Chapter 3
O Lord, how many are my enemies! How many rise up against me!
Many rabbis say to their souls that there is no salvation for him in God, Selah.
And you, O Lord, are my shield, my glory, and my head.
I cried out to the Lord with my voice, and he answered me from his holy mountain, Selah.
I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord strengthened me.
I will not be afraid of the multitude of people who surround me.
Arise, O Lord, save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies: thou hast broken the jaws of the wicked.
To the Lord, salvation is upon your people, your blessing is Selah.
To the sound of instruments, a psalm of David
Chapter 4
When I called, you answered me, O God of my righteousness. In the midst of trouble you enlarged my mercy and heard my prayer.
Sons of man, how long will my honor be for a word? You will love empty things, you will seek a lie, a lie.
And let them know that the Lord has made a distinction, and the Lord will hear their cry to Him.
Be angry, and sin not, say in your heart upon your bed, and be like a lamb.
Offer sacrifices of righteousness and trust in the Lord. ':
Many say, "Who will show us good? Let the light of your face shine upon us." ':
You have given joy to my heart with their grain and their abundant inheritance. :
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. :
Chapter 5
To the victorious ones, a psalm of David :
The words of the Lord's ear are understood by the wise. :
Hearken to the voice of my helper, my King and my God, for to you I will pray. :
O Lord, in the morning you will hear my voice; in the morning I will awaken and wait for you. :
For God does not desire evil, so evil will not drive you away. :
The idols will not stand before your eyes, you who hate all workers of iniquity. :
A man who speaks lies will perish, a bloody man, and deceit will be abhorred by the Lord. ':
And I, in the multitude of your mercy, will come into your house; I will worship toward your holy temple in your fear. :
Lord, grant me your righteousness for the sake of the righteous before your way. :
For there is no truth in their mouths. Their throats are open, their tongues are slippery. :
Those who accuse God will fall from their counsels in the multitude of their transgressions, for they have transgressed against you. :
And let all who trust in you rejoice forever. Let them sing praises, and let your glory be upon them. Let those who love your name exult in you. :
For you will bless the righteous, O Lord, as the cold, and you will crown us with joy. :
Chapter 6
To the sound of instruments on the eighth psalm of David :
O Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger, nor chastise me in your wrath. :
Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am afflicted; heal me, O Lord, for my fears are in vain. :
And my soul is greatly troubled, and you, O Lord, are my helper. :
Return, O Lord, deliver my soul; save me for the sake of your mercy. :
For in death there is no remembrance of you, and when asked who will acknowledge you, :
I have reached the point where I have been groaning all night long, my bed has been filled with tears, my throne has been burdened with sorrow. :
My eyes are filled with anger, and I am tired of all my troubles. :
Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping. :
Hear my supplication, O Lord; accept my prayer. :
They will be afraid and greatly afraid. All my enemies will be afraid and calm. :
Chapter 7
A Psalm of David, which he sang to the Lord on the words of Cush the son of Yamini. :
O Lord my God, in you I take refuge; save me from all my persecutors and rescue me. :
Before he devours my soul like a lion, leaving no one to rescue. :
O Lord my God, if I have done this, if there is any iniquity in my hands, :
If I have paid my debt, and have delivered my sorrows empty, :
The enemy of my soul will pursue and overtake me, trampling my life to the ground, and laying my honor in the dust. :
O Lord, in Your presence you have borne the transgressions of my enemies, and You have caused me to be struck with the judgment of Your command. :
And the assembly of the nations shall surround you, and upon it shall be a return on high. :
The Lord will judge the peoples. Judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and according to my integrity. :
Let the wicked perish, and the righteous be established, and the righteous test the hearts and minds of God. :
My protector is God, my Savior, the upright in heart. :
God is a righteous judge and a God of wrath every day. :
If he does not return his sword, he will sharpen his bow and make it ready. :
And if he had prepared the instrument of death, his arrows would be fired :
Behold, he shall conceive iniquity, and conceive mischief, and bring forth lies. :
A well he dug and fell into the valley of Iph'el. :
His labor will return to his head, and his anger will descend upon his crown. :
Give thanks to the Lord according to His righteousness, and sing praises to the name of the Lord Most High. :
Chapter 8
To the victory over the Gathites, a Psalm of David :
O Lord our God, how majestic is your name in all the earth, your praise in the heavens! :
From the mouths of wolves and hyenas you will establish strength for your enemies, to drive back the enemy and avenge them. :
For I see your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have ordained. :
What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you visit him? :
And you will be a little less than God, and honor and glory will adorn him. :
You will rule over him in the works of your hands, all the water will be under his feet. :
Sheep and goats, all of them, and also the wild animals. :
A bird of the sky and a fish of the sea pass through the seas. :
O Lord our God, how majestic is your name in all the earth! :
Chapter 9
To the immortality of a son, a Psalm of David. :
I will praise the Lord with all my heart; I will recount all your wonders. :
I will rejoice and be glad in you, I will sing your name on high. :
When my enemies return, they will be defeated and destroyed before you. :
For you have executed my judgment and my justice; you have sat on the throne of righteous judgment. :
You have disgraced the nations, you have destroyed the wicked, your name has been destroyed forever and ever. :
The enemy has destroyed the ruins to be conquered, and the cities have been destroyed, their memory has been lost. :
And the Lord will sit forever established on His throne to judge. :
And he shall judge the world with righteousness, and shall judge the nations with equity. :
And the Lord will be your refuge, a refuge in times of trouble. :
And those who know your name will trust in you, because you have not forsaken your precepts, O Lord. ':
Sing to the Lord, you who live in Zion; declare among the peoples his deeds. :
For he who demands blood from them, a man who has not forgotten the cry of the humble. :
Have mercy on me, O Lord. See my affliction from those who hate me. Lift me up from the gates of death. :
For I will recount all your praises in the gates of the daughter of Zion, rejoicing in your salvation. :
They have drowned nations in corruption, they have made a net, they have hidden it, their feet have been caught. :
The Lord knows the judgment He has made by the work of His hands. He strikes down the wicked, the wicked are in error. Selah :
The wicked will return to ask, all the nations that have forgotten God. :
For the poor will not be forgotten forever, the hope of the poor will perish forever. :
Arise, O Lord, let no man dare; let nations be judged before you. :
The Lord has given them a teaching, that the nations may know what a man is. :
Chapter 10
Why does the Lord stand afar off from the high places in times of trouble?
The pride of the wicked will burn the poor; they will be caught in the schemes they have devised.
For the wicked man praiseth his own soul's desire, and the LORD's blessing is swift in his doing.
The wicked are as proud as a lion, but all their plans are ungodly.
His ways shall be healed at all times by your judgments against him; all his adversaries shall hiss at them.
He said in his heart, "I will not die from generation to generation, for I have done no wrong."
Alas, his mouth is full of deceit, and under his tongue is hidden labor and wickedness.
He will sit in the west, in secret places, he will kill the innocent, his eyes will be set on fire.
He will lie in wait in secret, like a lion in a den; he will lie in wait to snatch the poor; he will snatch the poor from his dwelling with his own hands.
Jesus will be crushed and the mighty will fall.
He said in his heart, "God has forgotten; He has hidden His face, but He has not seen to prevail."
Arise, O Lord, for your hand is lifted up; do not forget the humble.
Why is the wicked one so hasty? God has said in his heart, "You shall not be punished."
I saw that you were toiling and scheming, and you looked with anger to give with your hand. He left a piece of bread for the orphan, and you were a helper.
The broken arm of the wicked and the wicked will seek his wickedness, but you will not find it.
The Lord is King forever, and the nations are lost from His land.
The desire of the humble is to hear the Lord, and you will prepare their hearts; you will incline your ear.
To judge the fatherless and the needy, but Joseph will still cherish a man from the earth.
Chapter 11
To David, my refuge, how can you say to my soul, "My soul is like a bird, my refuge is like a bird."
For behold, the wicked bend their bow, and prepare their quiver to shoot in the darkness at the upright in heart.
For drunkenness destroys the righteous. What has he done?
The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord is in heaven, his throne; his eyes behold, his eyelids try the children of men.
The Lord will test the righteous, but the wicked and the lover of hatred hate his own soul.
He will rain down on the wicked and the wicked fire and brimstone and a scorching wind from their cup.
For the Lord is righteous; the righteousness of him who loves the upright is within his heart.
Chapter 12
To the One Who Gives Victory Over the Eighty, A Psalm of David :
The Lord has saved us, for the righteous have perished, for the faithful have perished from among the sons of men. :
They will speak harshly to their neighbor, and their tongues will speak bitterly to their hearts. :
The Lord is known by all the lips of the righteous, the tongue that speaks great things. :
Who said, "Our tongue will prevail, our lips will be ours, who is our master?" :
From the groaning of the poor, from the groaning of the needy, now I will arise, says the Lord, I will save you, and you will cry out to him. :
The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver tried in a furnace, refined seven times. :
You, O Lord, will preserve us, you will preserve us from this generation forever. :
The wicked will walk around, like a cheap vineyard for the sons of men. :
Chapter 13
To the victorious, a psalm of David.
How long, O Lord, will you forget me? How long will you hide your face from me?
While I take counsel within myself, sorrow in my heart all day long; while I am, my enemies exalt themselves against me.
The Lord my God has given me a vision; my eyes have seen the face of the man of death.
Lest my enemies say, "My enemies will prevail." My enemies will know that I am dead.
But I, in your mercy, trust in me; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will praise the Lord, for he has been gracious to me.
Wrist
Nabal said to David, "There is no God. You have corrupted yourselves, you have abominable slanderers. There is no one who does good."
The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of men to see if there are any who understand and seek God.
They have all become corrupt; there is none who does good, no, not even one.
Do not all the workers of iniquity know that they eat the bread of my people, and do not call upon the Lord?
There they feared greatly, for God was in the generation of the righteous.
The counsel of the poor shall be ashamed, for the Lord shall protect him.
Who will give from Zion the salvation of Israel? When the Lord returns, the captivity of his people, the deliverance of Jacob, the joy of Israel?
Chapter 10
A Psalm of David. O Lord, who may abide in your tent? Who may abide in your holy mountain?
He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks the truth in his heart.
He has not slandered with his tongue, he has not done evil to his neighbor, and he has not taken up reproach against his neighbor.
A wicked man is despised in his eyes, but he honors those who fear the Lord. He swears to evil and does not change.
He who does not give his money to a thief, nor takes a bribe against the innocent, will not perish forever.
Chapter 16
From the book of David: Preserve me, O God, for I trust in you.
You said to the Lord, "My Lord, you have been good to me, but not to you."
To the saints who are in the land, and to the greatness of all my delights in them.
Their sorrows will increase after they have hastened, but I will not let them be drenched in blood, and I will not bear their names on my lips.
O Lord, you are my portion and my cup; you are my portion and my portion.
Ropes have fallen upon me in the midst of the clouds, and the land of Shafra has fallen upon me.
I will bless the Lord, who has given me counsel, even though my kidneys afflict me at night.
The Lord is my equal, always with me, for at my right hand I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart rejoices, and my glory is revealed; even in my flesh he will dwell in safety.
For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol; you will not allow your faithful one to see corruption.
Make me know that I will live a life of seven joys in your presence, with pleasures at your right hand.
Chapter 17
A prayer for David: Hear, O Lord, the righteousness of the Lord, and hearken unto me: my ear hath heard my prayer, and my lips have not spoken deceitfully.
From before you shall come my judgment; your eyes shall behold the upright.
You have searched my heart, you have visited me by night, you have afflicted me, but you have found my time, but it has not passed my lips.
For the deeds of man, by the word of your lips, I have kept the lands of Peritz.
Support my soul with your counsels, lest I fall at any time.
I have called upon you, that you would answer me; incline your ear to me, hear my words.
The glory of your mercy, O Savior, is the refuge of those who rise up at your right hand.
Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings.
Because of these wicked men who have robbed me, my enemies surround me with their soul.
His milk has closed his mouth, he has spoken proudly.
Our enemies have now turned their eyes and laid their hands on the ground.
His imagination is like a lion ravening its prey, and like a raven he lies in secret places.
Arise, O Lord, and let your face shine forth; deliver my soul from the wicked, O Lord, by your sword.
From the dead your hand, O Lord, from the dead from the rust of their hands, they will live, and your mercy will fill their belly. They will be satisfied with children, and they will rest, and their sacrifices will be offered.
I will hold your face in righteousness; I will satisfy your desire in the summer.
Chapter 18
To David the servant of the Lord, who spoke to the Lord the words of this song: On that day the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.
And Hezekiah said, "May the Lord have mercy on you, O strong one."
The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my shield, in whom I trust; my shield, and the horn of my salvation from my enemies.
I will call upon the Lord with praise, and from my enemies I will be saved.
My kites are the ropes of death, and my streams are in the wild.
The ropes of Saul are twisted, before me, the pitfalls of death.
In my distress I will call upon the Lord, and to my God I will cry out: he will hear my voice from his temple, and my cry before him shall come into his ears.
And the earth shall tremble and shake, and the foundations of the mountains shall be moved and tremble, because of the fierceness thereof.
A smoke goes up from his nostrils, and fire from his mouth devours coals in his fire.
And he bowed down to the heavens and came down, and the mist was under his feet.
And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly, and soared upon the wings of the wind.
Darkness covers its surroundings, its canopy is the darkness of waters, thick with dew.
From its opposite side, hail and coals of fire passed through its thickets.
And the Lord shall roar in the heavens, and utter his voice on high, hailstones and coals of fire.
And he sent forth his arrows, and scattered them, and with many lightnings, and they were troubled.
And the streams of water were afraid, and the foundations of the tabernacle were discovered, at thy rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the spirit of thy nostrils.
He will send from on high, he will take me, he will draw me from many waters.
He will deliver me from my strong enemies and from those who hate me, for they have overcome me.
They shall go before me in the day of my need, and the Lord shall be my help.
And he will bring me out into a large place; he will deliver me, because he delights in me.
The Lord will reward me according to my righteousness; according to the work of my hands he will repay me.
For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not departed from my God.
For all his judgments are against me, and his statutes I do not put away from me.
And I will be blameless with him, and I will keep myself from my iniquity.
And the Lord sat down for me as my righteousness, as the grave of my hands before his eyes.
With a righteous man you will be shown mercy, with a blameless man you will be perfect.
With a spear you will be cleared, and with a stick you will be entangled.
For you will save the poor people, and you will humble the haughty eyes.
For you will light my lamp, O Lord my God, and will dispel my darkness.
For in you I will make a mighty nation, and in my God I will leap like an ox.
God is perfect in his way; the word of the Lord is pure. He is a shield to all who take refuge in him.
For who is God besides the Lord? and who is the creator of my desolation, our God?
The God who protects me is strong and will make my ways perfect.
He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, and sets me on my high places.
He trains my hands for war, and my bones bend a bow of bronze.
And you will give me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand will sustain me, and your humility will make me great.
Enlarge my steps under me, and my feet shall not be moved.
I will pursue my enemies and overtake them, and will not turn back until they are consumed.
I will crush them, and they will not be able to rise; they will fall under my feet.
And you will prepare me an army for battle; you will crush my enemies under me.
And you have made my enemies turn their backs on me, and you have made those who hate me stumble.
They will be saved, and there is no savior, against the Lord, and there is no cloud.
And I will beat them small as dust before the wind; I will crush them like the clay of the streets.
You will deliver me from the strife of the people; you will make me the head of the nations; a people I do not know will serve me.
With the ear they will listen to me; the sons of a stranger will speak to me.
The sons of a stranger will be wasted and will go beyond their borders.
The Lord lives, and blessed be my strength, and exalted be the God of my salvation.
The God who avenges me, and speaks to the peoples under me.
Deliver me from my enemies, and from my enemies; lift me up from the violent man; save me.
Therefore I will praise you among the nations, O Lord, and sing to your name.
He magnifies the salvation of his king, and shows mercy to his anointed, to David and to his seed forever.
Chapter 19
To the victorious, a psalm of David.
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims the work of his hands.
Day to day he utters a word, and night to night he shows knowledge.
There is no speech and no words, but a voice is heard.
In all the land shall a people go forth, and in the end shall a multitude of them be scattered unto the sun, where I will dwell among them.
And he, like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, will run like a mighty man to the land of Arach.
His going forth is from the end of the heavens, and his circuit to their ends; and there is nothing hidden from his heat.
The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise my heart.
The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is good, enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The judgments of the Lord are true, they are righteous together.
Those who are more beautiful than gold and much perfume, and those who are sweeter than honey and the finest of jewels.
Your servant also has been warned by them, keeping a very strict watch.
Who can understand my errors? My hidden faults are hidden from me.
Let not the wicked of darkness have dominion over me, for you have cleansed me from many sins.
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my helper and my redeemer.
Chapter 20
To the victorious, a psalm of David.
The Lord will answer you in the day of trouble; he will uphold you in the name of the God of Jacob.
Your help will come from the Holy One, and your support will come from Zion.
He will remember all your offerings, and your burnt offerings will be a fattening sacrifice.
Your heart will be given to you, and all your counsel will be fulfilled.
We will sing of your salvation, and in the name of our God we will sing praises. May the Lord fulfill all your requests.
Now I know that the Lord, his Savior, his Messiah, will answer him from his holy heaven with the mighty hands of his Savior at his right hand.
Some in chariots, and some on horses: but we will remember in the name of the Lord our God.
They have been torn and fallen, but we have risen and been strengthened.
The Lord, the King of salvation, will answer us in the day we call.
Chapter 21
To the victorious, a psalm of David.
O Lord, in your strength your king will rejoice, and in your salvation what great glory will he have?
You have given him the desire of his heart, and the law of his lips has not restrained him.
For you have preceded us with good blessings, you will place a crown of gold on his head.
He who asks of you, you give him life, length of days forever and ever.
Great is his glory in your salvation; praise and glory you will bestow upon him.
For you will bless him forever; you will make him rejoice with joy in your presence.
For the king trusts in the Lord and in the mercy of the Most High, and he shall not die.
Your hand will find out all your enemies; at your right hand you will find out those who hate you.
You shall set him as a lamp of fire before you. The Lord will swallow them up in his presence, and fire will devour them.
His firstborn from the earth will perish, and his seed from the sons of men.
For they have plotted evil against you, they have devised a plot, but they will not be defeated.
For you will set their tents in your tents, and you will be prepared before them.
Glory, O Lord, in your strength we sing and praise your might.
Chapter 22
To the doe of the morning, a psalm of David :
To me, to me, why have you forsaken me? Far from my salvation are the words of my roar. :
My God, I call day and night, but you do not answer me. :
And you are holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel. :
In you our fathers trusted, they trusted and were delivered. :
They cried out to you and were saved; they trusted in you and were not put to shame. :
And I am a thornbush and no one, a reproach to man and despised by the people. :
All who see me will mock me, they will sneer, they will shake their heads. :
The exile to the Lord will be delivered, he will save him because he delights in him. :
For you are my support from the womb, my confidence at my mother's breasts. :
I have cast balm upon you, from my mother's womb you came to me. :
Do not be far from me, for trouble is near, for there is no helper. :
Many bulls surround me, the knights of Bashan crown me. :
They opened their mouths at me, a ravenous and roaring lion. :
I am poured out like water, and all my strength is gone; my heart is like a ship, melted within me. :
My strength is as dry as clay, and my tongue is stuck to my lips, and to the dust of death my lips :
For dogs have surrounded me, a company of shepherds have surrounded me like a lion, my hands and my feet. :
I will recount all my strengths, why would they look at me and be afraid? :
They will divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they will cast lots. :
And you, O Lord, do not be far away, my helper, my helper, my helper. :
Rescued from the sword of my soul, from the hand of my only heart :
Save me from the lion's mouth, and deliver me from the horns of the fierce ones. :
I will declare your name to my brothers; in the congregation I will praise you. :
Fear the Lord, the God of hosts, all the seed of Jacob, and be ye afraid of him, all the seed of Israel. :
For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the poor, nor hidden his face from him, but when he cried to him, he heard. :
From you I will praise, in the assembly of many I will pay my vows to those who fear him. :
The humble shall eat and be satisfied; they shall praise the Lord, his precepts; he shall live in your hearts forever. :
All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will bow down before you. :
For the kingdom is the Lord's, and He rules over the nations. :
All the people of the earth will eat and worship him; all who go down to the dust will bow down before him, and his soul will not live. :
A seed will serve him, he will be counted to the Lord for generations. :
They will come and declare his righteousness to a people yet unborn, for he has done :
Chapter 23
A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
In the construction of the house, which will make me sit on the water of rest, I will be guided.
My soul shall wander: he shall lead me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of Zelmaveth, I will fear no evil, for you are my support; your rod and your support, these are my comforts.
You have made me a pillar of fire against my enemies; you have anointed my head with oil, and filled my cup with oil.
Only goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Chapter 28
A Psalm of David unto the Lord. The earth and the fulness thereof are desolate, and they that dwell therein are desolate.
For he laid its foundation upon the waters, and established it upon the rivers.
Who shall ascend into the mountain of the Lord? and who shall stand in his holy place?
Pure in hands and pure in heart, who has not lifted up his soul to vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
He shall receive a blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
This is the generation of his disciples, seeking your face, Jacob, Selah.
Lift up your heads, and lift up the doors of the world, and the King of glory will come.
Who is this King of glory, the Lord of strength, and the Lord of might, a mighty man of war?
Lift up your heads, and lift up the doors of the world, and the King of glory will come.
Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts is the King of glory. Selah.
Chapter 2
To David: To you, O Lord, my soul is a man.
O my God, in you I trust; let me not be ashamed; let not my enemies triumph over me.
Also, all your hopes will not be cut off; the traitors will be cut off empty.
Make known to me your ways, O Lord, your statutes to my heart.
Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are my God; I will save you. I have hoped in you all day long.
Remember your mercies, O Lord, and your lovingkindnesses, for they are from everlasting.
Do not remember the sins of my youth and my transgressions. According to your loving-kindness remember me, O Lord, for your goodness' sake.
Good and upright is the Lord, therefore He teaches sinners in His way.
He will guide the humble in judgment, and teach the humble his way.
All the ways of the Lord are mercy and truth to those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.
For your name's sake, O Lord, forgive my sin, for it is great.
Who is the man that feareth the Lord? He will instruct him in the way he chooseth.
His soul shall dwell in good things, and his seed shall inherit the land.
The secret of the Lord is for those who fear Him, and His covenant is known to them.
My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for he will deliver me from the snare of my feet.
Turn to me and have mercy on me, for I am alone and poor.
The sorrows of my heart have been enlarged, and from my straits have I been brought forth.
See my affliction and my toil, and bear all my sins.
Behold, my enemies are many, and they hate me with fierce hatred.
Preserve my soul and deliver me; let me not be ashamed, for I trust in you.
They will make me perfect and upright, because I have hoped in you.
God redeemed Israel from all its troubles.
Chapter 22
To David: Judge me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity, and in the Lord I have trusted no more.
Be gracious to me, O Lord, and test me; refine my reins and my heart.
For you have shown me mercy, and I have walked in your truth.
I will not sit with the dead in death, nor will I come with those who perish.
I hate the assembly of evildoers, and I will not sit with the wicked.
I will wash my hands in innocency, and compass thine altar, O Lord.
To hear with the voice of thanksgiving, and to recount all your wonders.
O Lord, I love the shelter of your house, and the place where your glory dwells.
Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men.
Whose hands are full of lewdness, and their right hand is full of bribes.
And I, in my innocence, will go, redeem me and have mercy on me.
My feet stand upright in the congregations. I bless you, O Lord.
Chapter 27
To David, the Lord is my light and my salvation. Of whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?
Shepherds have drawn near to devour my flesh; my enemies and my enemies have stumbled and fallen.
If you encamp against me, my heart will not fear; if war rises against me, in this I will be confident.
One thing I have asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.
For he will hide me in a shelter in the day of trouble; he will hide me in the secret of his tent; he will lift me up in the day of trouble.
And now I will lift up my head above my enemies all around me, and I will sacrifice in his tent sacrifices of peace offerings, I will praise and sing praises to the Lord.
Hear, O Lord, my voice when I call; be gracious to me and answer me.
To you I said, "My heart has sought my face; your face, O Lord, will I seek."
Do not hide your face from me, do not turn away from your servant. You have been my help. Do not abandon me or forsake me, O God of my salvation.
For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me up.
Teach me, O Lord, your way, and lead me in a straight path because of my enemies.
Do not give me up to my enemies, for false witnesses have risen up against me, and wrath has been kindled.
If I had not believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord. Be strong and take heart, and wait for the Lord.
Chapter 28
To David, O Lord, I will call upon you, my rock. Be not silent because of me, lest you be ashamed because of me, and I be numbered with those who go down to the pit.
Hear the voice of my supplications when I cry out to you, lifting up my hands to your holy word.
Do not make me dwell with the wicked and with workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbors, but evil is in their hearts.
Give them according to their deeds, and according to the recompence of their deeds, according to the work of their hands; give them their full recompence.
Because they do not understand the works of the Lord, nor the work of his hands, they are destroyed, and not built up.
Blessed be the Lord, for he has heard the voice of my supplication.
The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped. My heart is exalted, and with my songs I will praise him.
The Lord is his strength and the stronghold of his salvation, his anointed one.
Save your people and bless your inheritance, and raise them up and carry them forever.
Chapter 29
A Psalm of David. O ye children of gods, let them be afraid, and let their hearts be hardened . To the LORD belong the glory of his name: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
The voice of the Lord is upon the waters, to the God of glory: the Lord shepherds upon many waters.
The voice of the Lord is in the mountains, the voice of the Lord in the majesty of the voice. He breaks the cedars, and the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon.
And they shall leap like a calf of Lebanon, and like a lion, like a son of a lion: the voice of the Lord shall break forth.
The Lord is the first in the wilderness, the first in the wilderness, the holy one.
The voice of the Lord makes the deer sing, and makes bare the forests; and in his temple all of them say, "Glory be to you forever and ever."
The Lord will give strength to his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.
Prayer after the reading
Who will give the salvation of Israel from Zion, when the LORD brings back the captivity of his people, the deliverance of Jacob, the joy of Israel. And the salvation of the righteous is from me. He is strong in the time of trouble. And he will help them and deliver them, he will deliver them from the wicked and save them, because they take refuge in him.
May it be pleasing to You, O our God and the God of our fathers, that by the merit of the psalms of the Temples that we have read before You, and by the merit of their verses and their verses, and their letters and their dots, and their flavors, and by the merit of Your holy and pure names that emanate from them. That You may atone for us for all our sins and forgive us for all our iniquities, and forgive us for all our transgressions that we have sinned and transgressed and have transgressed against You. And bring us back in complete repentance to Your presence, and instruct us in Your service and open our hearts to the study of Your Torah. And send complete healing to the sick of Your people (and to the sick: to say the name of the sick person and the name of his mother). And you will call the captives "Deror" and the prisoners "Pekah Koh", and you will save all those who travel by road and cross the seas and rivers from your people Israel from all harm and destruction, and you will bring them to the stronghold of their desire for life and peace. And you will command all the children of darkness in the seed of the resurrection to serve you and fear you. And the children of your people, the house of Israel, you will save, so that they will not be oppressed and their children will be saved, and those who live on the plain, in your great mercy, you will save from all evil, and you will satisfy the nursing mothers, so that their breasts will not be deprived of milk. And let not drunkenness, and gluttony, and drunkenness, and all manner of evils and diseases, reign over all the children of thy people, the house of Israel. And thou shalt bring them up in thy law, to learn the law of thy name, and shalt deliver them from the evil eye, and from the wilderness, and from the plague, and from the devil, and from the evil creature. And you will remove from us and from all your people, the house of Israel, in every place of the wilderness, all the hard and bad regions, and you will incline the heart of the kingdom toward us for good. And cut off good branches for us, and send blessing and success in all the work of our hands, and prepare our barns from your hand, wide and full, and your people, the house of Israel, will not need one for another and not for another people, and give to each man according to his barn, and to each family according to his need. And hasten and hasten to redeem us, and build us a house of holiness, and glorify us. And by the merit of the thirteenth of Your hands of mercy, which are written in Your Torah, as it is said: O Lord, O Lord, a God merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and by no means returning empty from Your presence, help us, O God, and save us for the glory of Your name, and save us. And forgive our sins for your name's sake. Blessed be he forever, Amen and Amen.
